Chequamegon Bay, St. Louis River, & Hayward, Wisconsin Fishing Report 4-27-14
With six days left until the Wisconsin Fishing opener, I believe ex Yankee Manager Yogi Berra said it best, “It’s like deja-vu all over again.”
On a cold, rainy, and windy Sunday afternoon, Morgan and I took a tour along the Highway 2 corridor to see how much progress we’ve made towards ice out. We visited three different lakes of various sizes, and the result was pretty much the same. Still lots of ice. However, it was significantly pulling away from the shorelines, and there were plenty of black patches. With any luck the rain that’s in the forecast this week will continue to chip away and give us a shot at some open water by Saturday. There are also reports that several of the bays on the Chippewa Flowage have opened up. That may be our best bet to get on a larger lake next weekend. It’s been a long winter for all of us, and it’s definitely time to get back at it. Stay positive everyone. It has to get better! We’ll keep you posted!
