Wisconsin Bass Fishing Guides

Whether they are caught on Chequamegon Bay or on one of our many inland gems throughout northern Wisconsin and the Hayward Lakes region, these fish provide the same drag screaming excitement in any water they swim.

Chequamon SmalliesIn 2008, I filmed my first show with Babe Winkelman that introduced America to the trophy potential of our inland waters.  Whether they're caught on Chequamegon Bay or on one of our many inland gems throughout northern Wisconsin and the Hayward Lakes region, these fish provide the same drag screaming excitement in any water they swim.  Pound for pound, bronzebacks are as tough as they come, and they'll wear you out.  Large numbers of trophy fish can be caught in May and June as well as mid September through October.  Mid summer months provide consistent action with the daily potential to land true trophies.   Many fish are landed throughout the season in the twenty plus inch range.  ALL SMALLMOUTH TRIPS ARE CATCH AND RELEASE ONLY.

Although not as glamorous as smallmouth and perceived by many anglers as the black sheep of the bass family in northern Wisconsin, many of our lakes have prolific populations of largemouth with fish in the five pound class available.  These fish are willing biters throughout the summer months and can often times save the day when tight lines are hard to come by.  Even though this is smallmouth country, I have no problem admitting that I enjoy catching bucketmouths and welcome anyone in my boat who shares the same attitude!
