Chequamegon Bay & Hayward, WI Ice Fishing Report 12-19-13

IMG_0829 (450 x 600)Josh and Acorn had one more test run on Chequamegon Bay Monday, and the results were impressive.  They were scouting for active fish and good ice for an upcoming guide trip and found both.  Their catch included a 27″ brown, 19″ whitefish, and a 20″ herring all caught on Kastmasters in 23′ to 40′ of water.  That’s a monster brown!  Ice conditions varied from 8″ to 12″ as the boys did a bunch of hole hopping during their trip.  Congratulations on that great fish Acorn.  What a trophy!

With all of of the research done, it was timeIMG_0832 (450 x 600) for Josh to get to work.  He guided Bryan Altendorf and his son Zach from Baldwin, WI on Tuesday, and they had a great trip.  Bryan and Zack iced a nice mixed bag that included several browns up to 23″, perch up to 11″, and a beautiful 30″ lake trout landed by the guide.  I’d say he deserved it!  Silver and blue Kastmasters and tip -ups with shiners were the ticket, and all fish were caught in 20′ to 23′ of water.  Ice conditions south of Washburn continue to run 8″ to 12″.  Great job Bryan and Zach, and job well done Josh.  You’re off to a great start!
