St. Louis River, Wisconsin Fishing Report 8-1-13
Where in the heck did July go? Summer is going by way too fast! Well, I have a confession to make. This week and next are scheduled to take care of some much needed house projects, and I swore that I wouldn’t go fishing until they were done. That didn’t last long! Morgan and I slipped up to the St. Louis River last night for an hour and a half to see what was going on with the walleyes. There was a pretty stiff northwest wind, but nothing we couldn’t handle. The bite was slow, but there are still fish to be caught. We boated one 20″ walleye and lost another at the boat along with landing a 34″ pike while trolling crank baits in 4′ to 7′ of water. Water temperatures have cooled, and I read anywhere from 68 to 70 degrees. After 2 straight days of power washing my house, it was a much needed night on the water with my favorite fishing partner. Back to work for now, but I’ll keep you posted if (or when) I make it back out over the next week. By the way… That’s not a bad photo taken by my 10 yr. old daughter, don’t you think??? Nice job Morganator!
