Hayward, Wisconsin Fishing Report 6-23-13
Terry Peterson and I spent the past three days with the Schmitz and Cunningham crew from Colorado and Arizona respectively. It was a great few days spent with great people. Walleyes are still being caught in 12′ to 15′ of water on slip bobbers and leeches. Smallmouth are in transition from spawn to post spawn. We are catching fish in 2′ to 6′ of water on top water baits, wacky worms, and jerkbaits. There has been a pretty good mayfly hatch over the past couple of days, and you definitely need to pay attention to detail. Everyone in the boat throws something different until a pattern develops. This will most likely be the case over the next week. There are plenty of fish to be caught. You just need to be flexible. Water temps are pretty steady, holding at around 67 degrees.
Thanks to Gene, Troy, Tara, Kari, Nate, and Nick for an incredible trip. I’m convinced that Troy is nearly perfect, and Tara definitely has the most powerful cast I have ever seen… You guys are awesome!

Thank you so much Jeff and Terry. We are still talking about the memories made for the second year in a row. It just keeps getting better and I think Tara just keeps getting more brilliant. Thanks for giving us tips on how to always beat the guys in the fish contest. Had such an amazing time, both of you take care, and as always great times, laughter, and lots of catching fish. Tara loves the leeches! Thank you and see you both next year. I think we may bring Abigail next year too.
Wonderful year out on the water! Although I think one of the highlights was the apology. Where is a video camera when you need one? Look forward to next year!
