Hayward, Wisconsin Fishing Report 6-7-13
My good friends Jeff and Masen Miller joined me for our annual “Bass O Rama”, and I’m happy to report that it was another successful trip for the father and son from Bloomer, WI. On day one of our trip, we were faced with extremely tough conditions. Northeast winds, rain, and clouds made for a very cold and damp day. Pre-spawn fish up to 21.5 inches were caught on jerkbaits, and we also found a few fish on beds. Water temperatures never broke 57, and the Miller boys were able to put together a pretty impressive day despite the weather. I was treated to an excellent steak at Deep Lake Lodge that evening, and we welcomed a forecast that called complete turn in the weather for Friday.
Day two brought long awaited sunshine, warm temps, and light winds. Finally! There was an incredible bug hatch happening, and bass could be seen moving onto nests throughout the day as the water temperatures warmed into the low 60’s. Jeff and Masen landed an impressive number of fish between 18″ and 20″. It was obvious as the day went on that the warming water and stable weather were kicking the spawn into “Live Mode”. Spawning fish will be seen over the next few weeks in all of our lakes. Please remember to take good care of these incredible fish, and appreciate watching them perform their annual ritual. Sometimes it’s nice to just put the rod down and watch!
My boat is in for repairs over the weekend, and I will be back at it on Monday. I’ll keep you posted.

Glad to see the fishing is good. The youngsters are great. Is it time for a Verado?
